Ah, heady intoxication! There is no room for whispering warnings here: - boundless enthusiasm has no ear, nor giddy ecstasy, wild with all delight. |
Relentlessly reality with harsh consuming face sets out apace to blight the crop of castles in the air; hurls hope into endless, empty space; withers the grace of youthful dreams; shrivels to naught the cherished schemes, awhile, or so it seems, indifferent to any care for the despair with which the disillusioned hurtles down through misty mockeries of love or mirages of famed renown, deep and deeper to the ocean ground. Well, you survived. But something in you died and this surely is the meaning of his fall: Icarus’ fate is in us all. ( S.v.WP ) |
